Each month we feature a Tech Diva who makes a difference in the lives of those around her. This month we feature Azizza Davis Goines
What is your current line of work or profession?
I am in the field of Association Management
Why did you choose it?
I have almost
always worked in the non profit field. I grew up in the YMCA and held
my first job there. Non-profit and social services was a natural
gravitation for me.
Tell us a time in your life that was a time you'll never forget.
The birth of my son is the first one that comes to mind.
What is something you are really proud of and why?
I am proud of my work in the communities in which I’ve lived. I
seem to have a natural leadership ability and have used that ability
over the years to provide services in some capacity in those communities
and now in other places around the world.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I don’t have much
spare time and that is by design, but I do enjoy gardening and spending
quality time with my family and friends.
What is the one tech tip that has helped you most?
I’m afraid I can’t think
of one. In the beginning of my adult working life, I actually worked
for Xerox and taught what is now a very antiquated piece of equipment
that was a dedicated word processor. It was so complex that it took a
full 40 hour week to teach the basics to our clients. For many years
following I kept up with technology. Now I have a great staff whom I
rely on heavily to “make things pretty for me.” I can find my way
around a keyboard if I absolutely have to and I’m a Facebook fanatic.
That more out of necessity as I have family and friends all over the
world and it’s the best
way for me to keep in touch.
What is your computer of choice?
I’m a PC girl, but really wish I’d learned (and still may) Apple products.
What is the one device and/or app you simply cannot do without?
My iPad! I’d be so lost without it. It’s become another appendage.
